Marta Domínguez

Marta has 31 years of experience as a psychologist, graduated from the University of Havana on clinical psychology in 1981 and sports psychology in 1983. She is a certified Level 1 (1997) and Level 2 (2000) Tennis Coach. She is a member of the Technical Commission of the Cuban Tennis Federation. She has work experience as psychologist and tennis coach in Chile, Mexico and Aruba, and has taught short courses for ITF in Central America. As mother she has accumulated experiences with her daughter who competed in tennis and had good results in Central America and the Caribbean Region and was a member of the Fed Cup Team that went up to Group I of the Americas. These experiences have enriched her professional tools to work with all level of players. At present she Works as Sports Psychologist at High Performance Centers in Havana, Cuba with infantile and junior players, their coaches and their families guiding them to a more healthy approach that helps the players in their performance. As athlete herself she was a member of the Cuban National Team from 1969 to 1980, and won a bronze medal in doubles at the VII Pan-American Games México 1975. Since 2009 until present she participated with the ITF Development Officer for Central America on a research Project with players, coaches, tennis officials and parents in Central America to detect the problems and improve the performance level in the Region. This research has led to the implementation of programs and regulations that lead to work more effectively with parents of tennis players and to a healthier atmosphere for the development of the child player.
